"A reader lives thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one."
George R.R Martin
Reading is a voyage through another one's life whom we
have never met and would never see with eyes. Man is an explorer of new ideas
that can help to grow sensibly. Communication is a vital part of existence to
empower the world with lots of creative space. Words are the medium for
expressing those unique thoughts to smooth the frequency in a relationship.
Books are the precious ocean where new people of different dimensions are met
and challenged with their views. Reading
makes sense of understanding to create a broad mind to accept the world.
Visiting the book shops and forgetting the space in the smell of books are the
cheering memories of readers. Here are
some must-read books that would encourage thinking in the next person's shoes.
1. Emma by Jane Austen
It is a beautifully tailored one with delighting
climax. Jane Austen is one of the prominent writers in English. Her works have
got adapted into films for which received positive remarks. This novel focuses
on a girl named Ms. Emma Woodhouse, an unmarried girl with subtle ideologies
about life and relationships. She finds, being romantic or falling in love with
someone is a can't-do thing for her. This book will never upset the readers
but, it can open doors to a wonderful girl's mind and thought processes.
The plot is entertaining for young readers especially.
The language brings a comfortable feel to double the curiosity of reading the
pages. Scholars, critics, etc.. are analyzing this great work even now because
Austen has meaningfully observed English life. English society's cultural
beliefs, priorities, the need to be standard and economically stable while
marrying someone to have a family will make a special feel in the reader's
mind. Go and get that feeling.
2. Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray
This book is a mirror to our current social and
emotional aspects of life. Though it was published some years ago, the theme is
relevant to modern society where humanistic emotions are ignored for their
profit. We meet soft characters who value others' pain and emotions, who
immensely love life. And at the same time, some characters are breaking the
unwritten love rules for getting money-heights. While reading the novel, the
readers would be walking through a narrow road with each side is covered with
self-reflecting mirrors.
Thackeray is an exceptional writer whose language is
throwing against the modern aspects of life. Mind-realizing truths are shared
with simple language. And this book never fails to refresh your mind and give
you a shot to think.
3. Love Story by Eric Segal
This is a book that divided the world before and after
because it is an intense love story touching the very deep of our hearts. Reading
this book is like flowing in a river. However, in the end, we all cry sitting
on the banks of the same river. The characters are created so well. There is an
emotional scene in the novel that would make tears. The heroine Jennifer
Cavilleri is hospitalized because of a dying condition. Her husband Oliver
Barrett IV comes to see her. She asks him to hug her tightly so that she can
feel his warmth. The illness took away her beauty but, he never stopped loving
her. He shared his beautiful moments with her. When he was asked to hug her,
she was in between life-saving machines. Both hugged each other crying. This scene is an emotionally deep and
unforgettable one.
This novel got many positive reviews and, people also
said it was unfair that Jenny died. Later, the novel got adapted into a film in
1970 with the same name. The film also was an emotional expression with a lot
of fan base. It’s a must-read one for those loving romantic novels..
4. Untouchable by Mulk Raj Anand
Mulk Raj Anand is an Indian writer whose works are
academically good choices of different universities. This novel gives a side of
the Dalit people’s life, how they were treated and what was their sources of
income etc. The social injustice in India based on the caste system is
expressed in the novel through the life of two brothers. Bakha is the main
character in this novel. It will give an insight into the old class system in
India. The book is for those who love serious reading about the social and
cultural backgrounds of India.
Anand is a part of Dalit literature. His works are
mirrors to the Indian society blindly believed in the human-separation on
caste.
5. Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H Lawrence
D.H Lawrence is a writer whose works have made people
mad and courts hot with arguments and supports. However, he won in many
controversies with deep dimensional thoughts behind the work. Lady Chatterley’s
Lover was banned in many countries because of the over-sexual content. Many
said this book is erotic with no aspects of life. And the courts in those
countries heard the writer’s attitude on this statement and, later, the
publishers became ready to publish the book.
The book describes the life of a woman who falls in
love with a servant. She belongs to the noble class yet, hated that noble
culture because of its arrogance toward others. She realized being a part of
the noble family does not help her mind to be happy. She finds happiness in the
wild and hut. She enjoys the evening walking through the forest and watching
others normally enjoying what they are supposed to do for the earning. Lawrence
also gives an eye to the industrial growth of the English society apart from
her emotional trauma. This book can be a better fit for graduates
post-graduates to submit a thesis.
Read and Grow....
